The latest generation of Ford vehicles are designed to constantly improve with over the air updates.
Cloud-connected technology enables Software Update, which mean your vehicle is always evolving. Your connected vehicle will download and install new software: from updating your vehicle’s SYNC system, to bringing you new or updated features and enhancing your vehicle’s capability.
Software updates are available for all vehicles equipped with FordPass Connect. The cloud-connected technology can download firmware updates and bug fixes for SYNC 3, as well as installing completely new features, such as SecuriAlert and Local Hazard Information. You can even share your driving information with selected insurance companies to get a completely personalised premium.
With the next generation SYNC 4A, currently available in the all-electric Mustang Mach-E, Software Update become even more effective. The system can deliver entirely new features to your vehicle, as well as download a range of enhancements over the air. These include improving your SYNC 4A software, and upgrading your vehicle’s quality, capability, and convenience.
You can manage your update preferences through the vehicle’s touchscreen. This lets you choose to accept or turn off automatic updates completely. If you turn off automatic updates, they will still download but won’t be installed until you approve them. It will also allow you to set up a regular schedule for certain updates that require specific scheduling.
The automatic updates feature allows many Software Update to be downloaded and installed on your vehicle automatically These updates are downloaded over the air and installed automatically when your Mustang Mach-E is switched off. The next time you start the vehicle the update will have been completed. You will get an alert when the installation is complete via the FordPass App and on the vehicle’s touchscreen.
Some larger Software Update require scheduling by the driver as they may take longer to install and require the vehicle to be switched-off for a short period. These updates are downloaded automatically over the air. The vehicle will let you know when an update is available and prompt you to choose a time to install the update. You can select a time when you know you won’t be using the vehicle and the update will be installed at your chosen time. You will get an alert when the installation is complete via the FordPass App and on the vehicle’s touchscreen.
