How to use your car’s child locks

Want to stop your kids opening a rear door? After watching this short video, you’ll see why locking it is child’s play.

With child locks on, your kids can’t open the doors from the inside, but you can open them from the outside. You can set your child safety locks at the turn of a key. And this is how to do it:

  • First, choose the rear door you want to lock.
  • Look for the white keyhole and insert your car key
  • Make a quarter turn.
  • To disengage the lock, simply turn the key in the other direction.
  • Your vehicle may have electric, remote child-proof locks. If so, you can lock rear doors and windows at the press of a button.

That’s how easy it is to use your child locks.

But if there’s anything you’re not sure about, you can always refer to your Owner’s Manual, or simply contact your Ford Dealer.

And if you find this video useful, check out the others in our ‘How to…’ series: it’s designed to help you keep your Ford in top condition and make best use of its many features.

IMPORTANT

If the child safety locks are on and you pull the interior handle, you will only turn off the emergency locking, not the child safety lock. You can only open the doors by using the external door handle.
