LOCK OPEN YOUR DOORS AT 270 DEGREES

To make loading and unloading easier than ever, the rear doors can be locked open at 270 degrees. High visibility decals on the doors’ inner edges reflect light, warning other road users of the vehicles presence. And even closing the doors is now easier because improved air extraction vents relieve air pressure build-up in the cargo area.

ENGINES & TRANSMISSIONS

RANGE OF ENGINES

Featuring a range of advanced 2.0-litre Ford EcoBlue diesel engines, the Transit is more powerful and more efficient than ever. With four powertrains available, offering up to 170PS, you’re guaranteed to find the one that meets your specific needs. The Transit is also available with an HDT (Heavy Duty Truck) engine for customers who need a bit more power. The engine can produce even more torque, making it ideal for heavier conversions.

A SMALL ELECTRIC MOTOR CAN IMPROVE EFFICIENCY

To help maximise efficiency, the Transit is now available as a Ecoblue Hybrid. A small battery-driven electric motor works with the conventional engine to help reduce fuel consumption when demand for power is low.

RENEWABLE DIESEL

HVO is based on waste oils, it’s a form of renewable paraffinic diesel fuel produced from a wide variety of raw materials including waste cooking oil using conventional oil refinement processes.

Also known as renewable diesel, Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil can be used in Ford Transit vans in place of regular diesel, without any vehicle modifications. HVO gives transparent cold temperature start times versus regular diesel fuel. It can even be mixed with regular Diesel in your fuel tank, so no worries if there’s no HVO nearby.

Compared with conventional fossil fuels, HVO is a more environmentally friendly alternative that can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions compared to pump diesel, particularly if made from recycled raw materials.

AdBlue additive close up

AN ADDITIVE THAT REMOVES POLLUTION

A selective catalytic reduction system uses AdBlue®, a urea/water-based fluid, to convert NOx emissions in the exhaust gas into nitrogen and water. A particulate filter then reduces more than 99% of emitted solid particulates from the vehicle’s exhaust. To operate correctly, the AdBlue® tank of your Ford EcoBlue diesel engine must be filled with AdBlue® fluid. System warnings illuminate when fluid level becomes too low.

HELPING YOU DRIVE MORE EFFICIENTLY

The innovative Ford EcoGuide system continually assesses the effects of your driving behaviour on your fuel consumption. The system analyses your speed, gear shifting, braking and anticipation levels, plus the number of short and long journeys you make. EcoGuide then feeds this information back to you via a display on the dashboard. The aim is to encourage you to drive more efficiently, reduce fuel consumption and save you money over the life of the vehicle.

USE LESS FUEL WITH AUTO START-STOP

When you stop at traffic lights or your vehicle is idling in a queue, this technology can automatically switch off the engine. When you're ready to move, just depress the clutch and select first gear as usual, or release the brake on an automatic, and the system restarts. Auto Start-Stop is particularly effective in town and city streets, where it can cut fuel consumption by up to 10%.

ACCELERATION CONTROL HELPS YOU DRIVE MORE ECONOMICALLY

This innovative option controls the rate of acceleration according to whether your vehicle is un-laden or part-laden. As a result, you can expect to lower your fuel consumption by up to 15%, depending on your driving style. The technology can also help reduce the amount of wear and tear on the engine, brakes and tyres, along with other components.

STRESS-FREE PARKING AND EASIER REVERSING

Active Park Assist in the New Transit is able to effortlessly steer you into parking spots. Available in models with an automatic transmission, this smart technology makes parking easier than ever. After activation, you simply select a side of the road. When the system finds a suitable space, it will automatically steer you in, while all you do is operate the accelerator, gears and brake. The new rear-view camera has been mounted at the top of the New Transit to give a better view of whatever’s behind you. A screen built into the centre console reveals objects you might miss, and the system displays virtual lines to help you park in the smallest of spaces. The camera activates automatically when you select reverse gear.

TECHNOLOGY THAT SEES WHAT YOU CAN’T

The Blind Spot Information System uses radar sensors to see vehicles that may be hidden in your blind spot. They’re situated on either side of your Transit and alert you with an orange light, clearly displayed in the side door mirror. If you are towing a trailer the Trailer Tow functionality (new to the system) extends the BLIS sensor range.

SPOTS THE VEHICLES YOU MIGHT MISS

Cross Traffic Alert is part of the Blind Spot Information System. When you’re reversing out of a space and have limited visibility of the traffic situation, Cross Traffic Alert can detect oncoming vehicles and sound a warning. The technology illuminates a light in the wing mirror too (left or right depending on the direction of oncoming traffic), as well as displaying a warning on the multi-functional display.

SEES WHAT’S COMING FROM EITHER SIDE

A tiny panoramic camera on the front of the vehicle relays a split-screen image to your Transit’s multi-function display so you can see vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians coming from either side. This front wide-view camera is invaluable if you’re edging out of a narrow parking space, or in a busy road where your view is obstructed.

SAFETY

NCAP award logo

AWARD-WINNING SAFETY

Ford Transit and Transit Custom have been named two of the top-performing vans for active safety, in the Euro NCAP test of Europe’s 19 best-selling vans.

In tests that represented daily real-world work, Transit and Transit Custom have now both earned the Gold award. Transit’s Traffic Sign Recognition recorded the only perfect score in the entire event, and Euro NCAP recognised Ford’s Pre-Collision Assist technology with Pedestrian Detection as a clear class-leading feature.

All of Transit’s safety features are designed and scrutinised to deliver this top-level service, helping to keep you, your cargo and other road users safe and your business on the road.

(Some driver assist technology features are available as options at additional cost)

A SYSTEM THAT CAN HELP PREVENT COLLISIONS AND PROTECT PEDESTRIANS

Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection uses radar and camera technology to scan the road ahead. If a collision risk with a vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist is detected, it’ll then provide you with a warning. If you don’t respond in time, the system can automatically apply up to full braking force to help reduce the severity of, or even eliminate, some frontal collisions.

Transit Van Curve control mitigation

HELPING YOU TO STAY IN CONTROL

Curve Control senses when a driver takes a curve too quickly, and can rapidly reduce engine torque – and apply brakes to individual wheels – to help keep the vehicle safely under control.

Roll Over Mitigation

CONTINUOUS PROTECTION AGAINST ROLLING OVER

Ford’s unique roll-rate sensor helps the Roll Stability Control system to keep the tyres grounded, specifically under conditions where there’s a high centre of gravity and when driving through off-camber turns.

DRIVER ALERT SYSTEM TELLS YOU WHEN YOU’RE GETTING TIRED

Driver Alert System constantly monitors your driving behaviour and is designed to detect any changes that could be caused by fatigue. If the system identifies you’re becoming less vigilant, a warning icon appears in the display, suggesting you take a break. If your driving alertness further declines, the message is repeated and combined with a chime.

AIRBAGS TO SHIELD YOU FROM ALL ANGLES

In addition to the driver and passenger front airbags, side airbags provide thorax protection and are designed to direct the occupant away from the impact area. They’re also able to raise the arm of the occupant providing better space between them and the intruding structure. Curtain airbags provide maximum coverage and headrests offer protection from whiplash. There are also seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters, seatbelt reminders for all seats, and a display that shows which occupied seats don’t have their seatbelts fastened.

PROTECTING AND SECURING YOUR TRANSIT FROM THIEVES

A Thatcham Category 1 alarm is a sophisticated system that automatically arms itself when you double-lock the vehicle and will sound a powerful alarm if triggered by forced entry, the vehicle being lifted, or if the motion sensors pick up any movement inside. The technology is also designed to help prevent unwanted towing of the vehicle.

REMOTE CONTROL CENTRAL LOCKING WITH ANTI-TAMPER DOOR LOCKS

The Transit has remote control central door locking. All locks are protected by anti-tamper shielding designed to help prevent them being broken by force. Drive-away locking will automatically lock all your vehicle’s doors as soon as you start to move off. The system is fitted as standard and you can switch it on or off via the instrument cluster. To aid assistance, vehicles are fitted with a crash unlock feature that’s automatically activated depending upon the severity of the crash.
