PLUG-IN HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE (PHEV) GUIDE

A plug-in hybrid, also known as a PHEV, uses a combination of a petrol engine and a large electric battery. These vehicles can complete short journeys on electric power alone, or combine petrol with electric power to maximise efficiency on every drive.

ZERO DRIVING EMISSION CAPABLE AND SURPRISING RANGE

Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles (PHEV) have all the functionality of full Hybrid technology, with the added advantage that they can be charged from an external electricity supply. The larger capacity of the battery makes them capable of zero-emissions while driving for ranges up to 64 kilometresTooltip, with the ability to switch to Hybrid mode to conserve battery life and to petrol or diesel-only for longer journeys.

WHY CHOOSE PLUG-IN HYBRID?

Plug-in Hybrid vehicles tend to have cheaper running costs than comparative conventional combustion engine powertrains. And with more low emissions zones being introduced in our cities, a PHEV can help to reduce your overall cost of ownership too. Because they are better for the environment, you could benefit from reduced tax incentives and local government grants for purchasing a plug-in hybrid vehicle. Speak to your nearest Ford Dealer to learn more about what incentives are available in your area.

EV MODES EXPLAINED

A Ford Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) includes selectable Electric Vehicle (EV) modes to help you get the most from your hybrid driving experience.

An EV Mode button lets you cycle through drive modes and select the one that’s right for you at the time. For example, you could make short journeys through town on electric-only power, use a combination of engine and electric power on a rural drive, or preserve the hybrid battery by using just the combustion engine on a motorway journey.

CHARGING YOUR PHEV

Your new Ford Plug-in Hybrid comes with access to the BlueOvalTM Charge Network. BlueOvalTM Charge Network has over 1,700 charging stations across Ireland, so wherever your adventure takes you, you’ll never be far from somewhere to recharge.

HYBRID CONNECTIVITY

With the FordPass App on your phone you can easily check if your hybrid battery needs charging before your next journey. You can also find the nearest public charging station, how to get there and how much it will cost to charge your Plug-in Hybrid vehicle.

PHEV CHARGING

You can charge your Ford PHEV from a home wallbox, a domestic socket, or at some public charge stations.

Every Ford PHEV comes equipped with a home charging cable for use with standard domestic sockets. We also offer smart wallboxes, which charge faster than standard sockets.
