How to Perform a SYNC Factory/Master Reset
SYNC 1
Note: Your vehicle must be in Park and running, not in accessory mode. Make sure you are in a well-ventilated area.
- Press the PHONE hard button.
- Press the Down Arrow until System Settings appears on the screen and press OK.
- Press the Down Arrow until Advanced appears on the screen and press OK.
- Press the Down Arrow until Master Reset appears on the screen and press OK. SYNC will ask you to confirm the reset.
- Press OK to confirm. The system will display read Reset Completed.
SYNC 2
A master reset can be performed before installing USB software updates or if there are problems with the system. The process erases all stored data, such as, call history, text message information, navigation previous destinations, and previously paired phones. It restores the system to factory settings.
- Touch Settings/System
- Scroll down to the second page
- Touch Master Reset
- Touch Yes to confirm
SYNC 3
Before performing a master reset, try resetting the system to restore functionality that has stopped working. The system reset does not delete any data you have stored. To reset the system:
- Simultaneously press and hold the Seek up and the audio unit Power buttons until the screen goes black.
- Wait three minutes to allow the system to complete the reset.
- Press the audio unit Power button to switch the system on.
If the system reset does not resolve the issue, continue with a master reset.
Performing a Master Reset:
- Start your vehicle. Ensure your vehicle is in park and running, not in accessory mode.
- Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Choose General.
- Scroll down and press Master Reset. A message confirming that all system settings will be erased and reset to factory defaults will appear.
- Press Continue. A Resetting to factory defaults message will appear, the system will turn off and the screen will go blank. It may take a few minutes for the system to reset and resume normal operation.
SYNC 4
Before performing a factory reset, try resetting the system to restore functionality. The system reset does not delete any data you have stored.
To reset the system:
Vehicles equipped with a Power button:
Press and hold both the Power button (centre of the volume knob) and the Seek Right button for 10 seconds.
Vehicles not equipped with a Power button:
Press and hold both the Volume Down and Seek Right buttons on the steering wheel controls for 10 seconds
If the system reset does not resolve the issue, continue with a factory reset.
Performing a factory Reset:
A SYNC factory reset erases all stored data. This includes FordPass™ Connect (modem) activation, authorisations, call history, text messages, previously paired phone, and navigation favourites.
- Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC 4 screen.
- Press Reset.
- Press Factory Reset.
- Follow the prompts on the screen to complete the reset.
SYNC 4A
- Tap the Vehicle Icon in the top left of the infotainment system
- In the panel on the upper part of the infotainment system tap Settings
- A: In the panel on the left scroll down and click General
B: In the General menu click on Reset, additional reset options should unfold - In the General menu under the Reset tab click on Factory Reset
- Click Continue on the confirmation prompt that is presented to go ahead with the factory reset.
All personal data will be deleted (navigation destinations, paired phones etc.).
SYNC Move
Performing a system reset allows you to remove all personal information and restore settings to their factory defaults. Please follow the steps below:
- Press this icon on the touchscreen.
- Press this icon.
- Press Factory reset.
- Follow the prompts on the screen to complete the reset.
