When should Ford vehicle cambelts be replaced?
As with other parts of Ford vehicles, regular checks and maintenance are required on Cambelts and Timing belts.
The timing belt is a critical component in your engine that synchronizes the rotation of the crankshaft and camshaft.
Cambelt maintenance is vital for several reasons:
- Prevents Engine Damage
- Maintains Engine Performance
- Ensures Reliability
- Avoids Unexpected Breakdowns
When Should You Replace It?
The golden rule: check your owner's manual and you can find out the maintenance schedule and what each service may entail for your vehicle via your Ford Account or FordPass. See How do I View my Ford Vehicle Service Intervals?.
Ford recommends:
- cambelt replacement at 6yr/100k miles/160.000 Km, whichever comes first
- chain drives replacement at 10yr/150k miles/240.000 Km, whichever comes first
