Central Locking Systems
A vehicle can be centrally locked from outside by the following methods:
- using the mechanical key by turning the keyblade clockwise in the lock barrel on the driver's door.
- by using the Lock button on the remote control key fob.
- using the lock sensor on the front door handles (for Keyless Entry equipped vehicles).
A vehicle can be centrally locked from inside by the following method
- Using the lock button on the interior trim switch
The central locking system makes it possible to lock or unlock all of a vehicle's doors, the liftgate or the luggage compartment lid simultaneously. This can be done by mechanically, by locking one of the front doors using the key or by locking the doors from the inside.
The door central locking system is available with single or with double locking.
Double-locking is an additional anti-theft device and can only be activated if the ignition is switched off and all doors are fully closed. Double locking ensures that opening the vehicle from the inside (e. g. after glass breakage) is no longer possible by disabling the interior release levers.
Remote Central Locking
The vehicle can also be locked and unlocked centrally using remote control buttons on the key fob. To activate double locking, the locking button on the frequency remote control must be pressed twice within three seconds.
If the vehicle is unlocked but the doors, luggage compartment or the liftgate remain closed, the vehicle will automatically re-lock. The period of time this takes may vary, although the standard time is 45 seconds
