Ford Electric Explorer is not Connecting to Android Auto Troubleshooting

Based on the connection type, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Wired Connection

  1. Make sure to use a certified charging cable, preferably the one that came with the phone or a certified replacement.
  2. Wait to connect your phone until after the vehicle has started. There can be connectivity concerns if the phone is connected before the vehicle is on.
  3. Make sure to use the front USB port. Android Auto will not work from the rear port.
  4. Confirm Android Auto is activated on your phone before initiating a connection process. 
  5. Confirm both USB tethering and Bluetooth are turned on in the phone settings.
  6. Ensure the Android Auto app is up to date.

If you have gone through all the steps above, try restarting your phone and then trying to connect.

Wireless Connection

  1. Ensure your device has Wi-Fi turned on.
  2. Remove your vehicle from your device's Android Auto settings.
  3. Confirm Android Auto is activated on your phone before initiating a connection process.
  4. Confirm both USB tethering and Bluetooth are turned on in the phone settings.
  5. Ensure the Android Auto app is up to date.

If you have gone through all the steps above, try restarting your phone.

Note: Lollipop 5.0 or higher operating system is required.
